Europa League hopefuls submit offer to sign 19-year-old Manchester United attacking prospect

Croatian outfit HNK Rijeka have reportedly submitted an offer to sign Manchester United teenage sensation Ethan Williams.

According to a report from Football Insider, HNK Rijeka have entered the race for the signature of Ethan Williams. The Croatan outfit are keen on bolstering their attack by adding the young winger to the mix and have tabled an official bid to sign him on a season-long loan.

Williams has been a part of the United youth setup since 2019. He has made quite a name for himself on his way up. He is currently a part of their Under-21s and has been the club’s top scorer in the UEFA Youth Champions League for the past two campaigns.

The 19-year-old winger spent the second half of last season on loan at Cheltenham Town in League Two. He was involved in a total of 17 matches and finished with two goals and two assists.

He is quite highly rated by the people at the club and was a part of Ruben Amorim’s pre-season squad. He even bagged a goal against Bournemouth in one of their pre-season games.

HNK Rijeka front-runners to sign Williams

However, he is unlikely to get enough first-team minutes; as a result, the Red Devils are open to a loan move. Multiple English clubs are keen on signing the teenager, but HNK Rijeka have entered the race and leapfrogged them.

Having won the Croatian Championship last season, they are looking to build on it. The Europa League hopefuls are keen on adding more firepower to their squad and consider Williams an ideal fit for their system.

They have already approached United with an offer to sign the teenager. With an official bid on the table, it remains to be seen whether they can land the highly sought-after English winger.

If he does join the Croatian side, he would be the only United player featuring in European competition, as the Manchester club finished in the bottom half of the table last season and lost the Europa League final to Tottenham.
