Analyst Proposes Blockbuster Vikings, Raiders Trade

The Minnesota Vikings were much better in 2024 than anyone expected them to be.

Las Vegas betting lines indicated that they would be a .500 team at best, suggesting it would be a rebuilding year for them.

Those expectations and predictions didn’t account for Sam Darnold having a career year, and the Vikings ended up with one of the best records in the league.

They’re moving into the J.J. McCarthy era in 2025 and beyond, and the front office and coaching staff are seemingly looking to do whatever is possible to help him succeed.

Justin Jefferson and T.J. Hockenson are two premier pass-catchers that he’ll have the opportunity to throw to, as will Jordan Addison when he comes back from his three-game suspension.

While it might seem like this team is set with their receiving options, there’s always an opportunity to add more, which analyst Brad Gagnon highlighted in a recent Bleacher Report article.

Gagnon indicated that the Vikings should make a trade with the Las Vegas Raiders to acquire Jakobi Meyers, a wide receiver who’s disgruntled with the Raiders’ inability to strike a contract extension.

Vikings Get: Jakobi Meyers

Raiders Get: 2026 fourth-round pick

“First-year starter J.J. McCarthy will need as much ammo as possible beyond star Justin Jefferson. Jordan Addison is facing a three-game suspension, Rondale Moore has been lost for the season due to a knee injury, and Jalen Nailor’s been plagued by a hand injury,” Gagnon wrote.

This could be a win-win for both sides.

The Vikings would get a veteran receiver who could help them in Week 1, giving McCarthy another weapon to work with, and the Raiders would receive another draft pick to help them in the future after what’s considered to be a rebuilding year.

Both front offices will have to agree to a deal like this, of course, but it is a unique proposal that seems to make sense for both teams.

It’ll be interesting to see how the Meyers situation plays out, especially with the season slated to start in less than two weeks.
