Player tempted to join‘great club’Chelsea–World champions label can be part of attraction

Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez is tempted to join ‘great club’ Chelsea, with their World Champions tag a part of the attraction.

That’s [according to Marca,](https://www.marca.com/futbol/barcelona/2025/08/27/fermin-piensa-serio-chelsea-dudas-razonables.html) who report that Fermin is serious about going to Chelsea and no longer flatly refusing to leave Barcelona this summer.

The newspaper reports that the midfielder finds himself in a complicated moment and has to decide on his Barcelona future in the coming hours. Either he stays, or he leaves for Chelsea at the end of the window.

If it was a choice of the heart he would remain at the Camp Nou as he’s a Barcelona fan, has worked to get to his current position and dreams of success with the club. However, there are arguments in favour of the move.

First there is the issue of playing time. He’s only managed 45 minutes in two league games so far and manager Hansi Flick has even used Raphinha as the attacking midfielder instead of him.

There is enormous competition for the positions he plays in, attacking midfield and left-wing and the addition of Marcus Rashford in the summer hasn’t helped that. Playing time will be at a premium this season.

He’s also attracted to Chelsea, who are the current world champions after their success at the Club World Cup. They a ‘great club’, one of the giants of English football, likely to be competing for titles and with an interesting future. They can also offer a considerable salary increase, more than double according to some reports. They are all compelling arguments in their favour.

Fermin needs to consider his options carefully, but Chelsea are not being dismissed, which means there’s a possibility he makes the move to Stamford Bridge.
