Sky Sports share ‘desperate’ Isak to Liverpool update as conditions for a deal are laid out

Alexander Isak couldn’t be trying any harder to get his dream move to Liverpool over the line.

The striker has refused to play for Newcastle and has even released a statement saying that promises were broken by them regarding his future.

Liverpool are also waiting to sign their dream target this summer, but after their first bid worth £110million was rejected, the Reds are yet to make another move.

Several other players, such as Real Madrid’s Rodrygo, have been linked with an Anfield switch, but in reality, it’s clear that Arne Slot only has eyes for Isak.

Newcastle now “desperate” to sign a new striker this summer

Since the start of the summer transfer window, the main thing that has held a deal up is that Newcastle haven’t been able to source a replacement for their star man.

Strikers such as Joao Pedro, Benjamin Sesko, and Hugo Ekitike have all chosen to explore other opportunities that were presented to them rather than become the new leading man for Eddie Howe’s team.

This has caused the Magpies to slap a massive £150million price tag on Isak’s head, with their stance not changing from the fact that they don’t want to sell.

However, as per a new report from Sky Sports journalist Keith Downie, it seems like Newcastle are now getting “desperate” to sign a new number nine this summer.

“Behind all of this, and this has been the case for a number of weeks now, is that Newcastle are pretty much getting desperate when it comes to replacements,” he said.

“We know that they tried to send Benjamin Sesko as a replacement for Isak to allow him to go, they failed.

“They tried to sign Hugo Ekitike, who, of course, went to Liverpool and ironically scored here at St James’ Park against Newcastle last night.

“They missed out on Joao Pedro and Liam Delap, and they’ve tried and failed a number of times, and they’re still at the table active in the market, and I think if they managed to get maybe one, hopefully two, there’s a chance Alexander Isak could leave between now and the closure of the transfer window.”

Liverpool must make up their mind about Alexander Isak before it’s too late

Isak’s potential move to Liverpool has been one of the most drawn-out transfer sagas in recent memory.

From the start, it’s been clear that Liverpool and Isak have wanted the move to go through, but with the way that things have been handled at Newcastle, that option has never really been on the table.

And now we’re entering the final few days of the transfer window, it’s getting close to the point of no return for Slot’s first-team squad.

At the moment, they have four senior attacking options available to them, and unless another attacker is brought in, it’s hard to see how the Reds would survive the season and remain competitive.

Of course, it’s up to Slot and Richard Hughes regarding what players they choose to bring in, but if one or two additions aren’t made before the window closes, the Reds could be in for a whole world of trouble.
