Report: Todd Boehly could have to pay an extra£15m for Alejandro Garnacho because of former Chelsea star

As of now, Manchester United will not be selling Alejandro Garnacho to Chelsea for a cut-price fee.

The winger has his heart set on a move to Chelsea. According to the reliable Fabrizio Romano, Garnacho has just spoken to one Saudi Arabian club, telling them that he has no interest in a switch to the Saudi Pro League.

That is good news for the Blues as they look to bring the 21-year-old to Stamford Bridge before the transfer window closes next Monday.

But despite Garnacho not being part of Ruben Amorim’s plans, United are determined not to sell him on the cheap.

Manchester United want £50m for Alejandro Garnacho after Noni Madueke sale, not £35m

Earlier in the transfer window, Chelsea sold Noni Madueke to Arsenal for £52m, and it appears that United are now using that transaction as a benchmark for Garnacho’s valuation.

According to The Guardian, United value Garnacho at £50m because of that sale, as well as Anthony Elanga’s £52m move from Nottingham Forest to Newcastle United.

However, the same outlet claims that Chelsea only value the Argentina international at £35m, meaning that they could have to add on another £15m to land their man.

Whether Todd Boehly and Co are prepared to do that remains to be seen, but it is quite clear that Garnacho is a player who is really wanted at Stamford Bridge.

It has been claimed that all of the directors at Chelsea are keen on signing Garnacho, making a deal still seem very likely.

Alejandro Garnacho and Noni Madueke’s stats last season

The Guardian’s report claims that United have told Chelsea that Garnacho has superior stats to Madueke, another reason for their valuation.

Last season, Garnacho and Madueke scored the same number of goals in all competitions despite the former playing more games, but you suspect that the stats United are referring to are way deeper than just goals and assists.

All in all, Garnacho and Madueke are probably around the same level, but with United no longer wanting the former, Chelsea clearly feel that they can do a deal on their terms.
