Dominic Calvert-Lewin made his first appearance for Leeds United since departing Everton in Tuesday’s Carabao Cup defeat to Sheffield Wednesday.
Calvert-Lewin joined Leeds ahead of last week’s clash with Everton, having been on the lookout for a new club since departing the Toffees at the end of June.
While Calvert-Lewin did not play any part against Everton, or indeed Leeds’ loss to Arsenal at the weekend, he made a cameo appearance against Wednesday in midweek.
England international Calvert-Lewin missed some glorious chances in his 32 minutes on the field as Leeds exited the competition on penalties after a 1-1 draw.

Despite that, Leeds boss Daniel Farke was happy with the way Calvert-Lewin got on the end of chances, even if he did not put them away.
“He actually had three chances when he came on during the game. I am happy he was getting those chances,” Farke told reporters.
“It is his first minutes of the season, and it was good to see him get in the right positions. We know Dominic will get sharper and will take these chances in the future.”

While Farke was simply saying what any manager would, Everton fans will roll their eyes as they have heard it all plenty of times before.
When Calvert-Lewin was fit enough to play last season, he simply did not do enough on the field when chances fell his way.
Indeed, he scored just three goals in 26 top-flight outings.

No Evertonian would wish badly of Calvert-Lewin, having given so much to the Merseyside club, but at the same time it would also hurt to see him thrive at a Premier League rival.

What was Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s overall record at Everton?
Calvert-Lewin made 273 appearances for Everton across a whopping nine seasons at Goodison Park.
The striker netted 71 goals, which goes without saying is far from a prolific return.
The 2019-20 and 2020-21 campaigns were undoubtedly his most fruitful in the famous blue, scoring 13 and 16 Premier League goals respectively in those seasons.
Calvert-Lewin could well revive his career at Elland Road, but his debut display for Leeds suggests it will be the same old – even if Farke does want to put a positive spin on it.
