A young receiver making the Bengals roster had the attention of their Ring of Honor member.
A stellar preseason performance is exactly what landed this Cincinnati Bengals star a spot on the 53-man roster. He hauled in two touchdowns as it didn’t take long to gain mainstream attention.
One legendary Bengals WR took notice of the receivers preseason numbers. They took to social media to ask for not just his jersey, but another very important thing as well.
Chad Johnson Asks Social Media for Mitchell Tinsley’s Jersey and Phone Number
It’s not like any random person on social media is going to have Mitchell Tinsley’s phone number, but it was worth a shot. Johnson had a stellar career with the Bengals dating from 2001-10. Once he no longer was on the team, his NFL career was short lived.
Regardless, he made his mark on the league. Johnson was a two-time First-team All Pro and a six-time Pro Bowler in his career. He joined the Bengals Ring of Honor and made their 40th and 50th Anniversary Teams.
Tinsley hauled in a pair of touchdowns that QB Joe Burrow couldn’t get enough of. His stellar performance landed him a roster spot as Burrow now has another weapon to throw to. Entering his second year in the league, Tinsley will look to record his first NFL catch this season.

“How do i get a Mitchell Tinsley jersey & his phone number so i can annoy him with random text messages at 3am like i do Chase & Higgins,” Johnson wrote. He later responded to a fan, “I text Zac Taylor I’m still open at 5am, nobody has blocked me yet, Burrow don’t even respond but he’s famous so I understand,” with a few laughing emoji’s.
Ultimately, things worked out in the end, “I FaceTime’d Mitchell Tinsley & that made me happy to congratulate young boul, now he has to deal with me texting at random times for no apparent reason the next 6 months,” Johnson said.
Bengals Social Media Posted the Video of Tinsley Learning he Made the 53-Man Roster
One of the best things on social media is when a professional sports team posts a reaction video like this. Tinsley’s may not have set the internet on fire, but it’s worth a watch as his reaction was priceless.
“I appreciate you coach,” Tinsley said. “I appreciate you all giving me the opportunity to go out there and do what I do. You all put me in positions to be successful.”

“You can relax. Call your mom. Call your family. You’re part of the Bengals.”

Tinsley then asked WR Assistant Coach Troy Walter, “Is there anything you see, or anything as far as my game that I really need to work on or hone in on?” Walters had nothing but great things to say about the 25-year-old.
“You can relax. Call your mom, your family, you’re part of the Bengals and we look forward to you doing great things man.”
No details of Johnson and Tinsley’s FaceTime were revealed, but it’s clear how highly Walter and the team think of Tinsley already. His six preseason receptions for 88 yards and a pair of touchdowns were more than enough to carve him out a spot on this team. With the news that Trey Hendrickson is sticking around, the Bengals find themselves in a great position.
