Travis Kelce had one final word on conspiracies about his relationship with Taylor Swift in a comment he recorded hours before their engagement announcement sent shockwaves around the world.

Kelce wrapped up his latest New Heights podcast episode with his older brother Jason hours before he and Taylor made their joint revelation on Tuesday that they are getting married.

The latest show included a 'debrief' from their previous episode with the singer, where Swift announced her new album 'The Life of a Showgirl' in a two-hour interview.

Jason made a point of reading his brother a response from one 54-year-old listener who was initially cynical about Swift's appearance, before being won over by how she and Kelce came across.

The comment said: 'Full disclolsure, I was a bit annoyed this sports podcast was going to have a pop singer on. I was going to skip it... (but) I've never been engrossed in anything for two hours in my entire life.

'Is it crazy for a 54-year-old dude to Google how to be a Swiftie? Seeing two people genuinely in love when all we have heard all season is this relationship isn't real, it's a marketing scheme, gave me a feeling I did not know I could have.

The couple have faced continuous scrutiny over the authenticity of their relationship

'I always thought the Kelce brothers were dope dudes and Taylor's the same. This showed all of their human sides and I loved every minute of it.'

The newly engaged couple have repeatedly been subjected to questions over how genuine their romance is, with critics bizarrely claiming the NFL and Swift were tapping into each other's huge fanbases to grow their profiles and make more money.

In September 2024, three-time Super Bowl winner Kelce even called in lawyers when a fabricated 'breakup contract' surfaced online claiming the couple were scheduled to announce their split later that month.

But now, the Kansas City Chiefs star is having the last laugh as he plans his wedding to the singer.

He responded to his brother reading the comment by saying: 'Like we said, she came off as genuine as she really is, man.

'It was cool to see the world react to it knowing that they hadn't seen her in that kind of light before. That's why I love her.'

According to Kelce's father Ed, the couple actually got engaged two weeks ago but only made the news public now.

'Travis actually did the proposal, oh, maybe two weeks, not quite two weeks ago,' Ed Kelce told Cleveland TV station WEWS. 'He was going to put it off till this week.

'I think she was getting maybe a little antsy, but he was going to put her off till this week, to, you know, make some grand thing, to make it a big special event.

'And I told him repeatedly, you know, "You could do it on the side of the road, do it any place that makes it a special event... when you get down on one knee and ask her to marry you."'

Next week, Kelce's focus will pivot to the start of the NFL season.

Bidding to avenge a crushing Super Bowl loss that left Kelce considering retirement, the Chiefs begin the campaign in Sao Paulo, Brazil against AFC West rivals Los Angeles Chargers on Friday, September 5.
