Czechia's NBA guard praises new Celtics center after Portugal's stunning opening win

Atlanta Hawks guard Vit Krejci praised Portugal's star big man, Neemias Queta, after he led his team to a stunning win in the EuroBasket 2025 opener against Czechia.

Boston Celtics’ Neemias Queta was outstanding in his EuroBasket debut for Portugal, scoring 23 points and grabbing 18 rebounds, helping Portugal earn their first EuroBasket win in 18 years with a 62-50 opener victory against Czechia.

After the game, Czechia's NBA guard Vit Krejci, who scored 10 points in the loss, praised Queta for his presence, calling him a complete game-changer in the EuroBasket 2025 opener for both teams.

"I think we missed some shots early; we had only 3 fast-break points. When Queta is down there, it's really hard to play five-on-five against them," Krejci said. "When he's in the paint, it was really hard for us to get to the basket."

"Against a guy like that, we’ve got to play fast, and we only had 3 fast-break points," he added.

Czechia will play their next game against Turkiye on Thursday, meanwhile Portugal will continue their campaign against Serbia on that same day.
