Boston Bruins defenseman Fredric Brunet will take part in the 2025 NHLPA Rookie Showcase.
The annual event, scheduled for Sept. 3 at MedStar Capitals Iceplex in Arlington, Va., is designed to highlight young talent across the league. Players gather for official trading card photography, media sessions and brand development while also connecting with peers at similar stages of their careers.
It is viewed as both a marketing launch and an introduction to the NHL community, according to Zander Manning of The Hockey Writers.
For Brunet, the selection comes after a year of steady growth in Providence. The 22-year-old defenseman played 69 games last season and finished with five goals and 25 points, a noticeable step forward from his 14-point campaign the year prior. He capped that progress with a late-season call-up to Boston, making his NHL debut against New Jersey in the regular-season finale, as noted by Scott Roche of Causeway Crowd.
Brunet’s frame and playing style fit the profile of a modern two-way blueliner. At 6-foot-3 and 196 pounds, he uses his size without sacrificing mobility. His discipline has also stood out, with just 35 penalty minutes last year compared to the higher totals seen from veteran defensemen.

That ability to stay on the ice should benefit him as he battles for opportunities behind Hampus Lindholm, Mason Lohrei and Nikita Zadorov, Manning reported.
Drafted in the fifth round in 2022, Brunet has built a reputation for physical play that does not compromise control.
The showcase invitation serves as recognition of that growth and represents another positive sign for Boston’s developing pipeline.
