Adam Thielen's Family Shares Emotional Reaction to Vikings Trade

The wait is over. Adam Thielen is going home.

After several days of negotiations, the Minnesota Vikings have realized a reunion with Thielen, sending the Carolina Panthers a fifth-round pick and a 2027 fourth-rounder in exchange for Thielen, a conditional seventh-round pick and a 2027 fith-round pick, per NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

After spending two years with the Panthers, the Thielen family was ecstatic about the news of their homecoming that came on Wednesday, Aug. 27. Several family reactions were caught on video and shared by Caitlin Thielen, Adam's wife.

Caitlin shared a video on her Instagram, showing her telling their 4-year-old daughter, Cora, that they were going back to Minnesota.

"We're going home, we're going home," Adam and Cora chanted as she jumped up and down while holding Adam's hands.

Caitlin also shared the newsbreak from the NFL's official Instagram account, offering insight into the turbulent weekend of negotiations: "Praise the lord. What a roller coaster this past week has been. Adam you are so strong and I know how much this means to you!! Skol."

The Vikings began to pursue Thielen after Jalen Nailor suffered a hand injury in training camp. Nailor was the presumptive replacement for Jordan Addison, who is suspended for the first three games of the season.

Thielen, who celebrated his 35th birthday on Friday, Aug. 22, returns to the Vikings after two productive years in Carolina. In 2023, he tallied 103 receptions for 1,014 yards receiving, becoming one of just eight receivers age-33 or older to reach 100 receptions in a single season.

He has been a stable contributor to a Panthers offense that helped Bryce Young take a significant step as a quarterback in his second year last season.

Thielen will now be tasked with doing the same with Vikings quarterback J.J. McCarthy, the youngest starting quarterback entering the 2025 NFL season at 22 years old.
