On Tuesday evening, Ben Wilkinson and our Elite Development Squad travelled to Blundell Park for our first group game of 2025/26 in the EFL Trophy.
We faced League Two outfit Oldham in front of over 1,700 fans that included plenty of noise from the travelling City contingent.
And their noise undoubtedly spurred on our young boys in blue who had a three-goal lead before half-time, following a clinical opening 45 minutes.
Mahamadou Sangare scored his first goal since signing for City in the summer and was quickly joined by Justin Oboavwoduo and Ashton Muir on the scoresheet, both producing fine finishes themselves.
Luke Hannant’s penalty proved to be just a consolation when Sangare restored City’s three-goal lead with 20 minutes left.
But City weren’t done yet. Muir made it five to complete a clinical display with our attention on our next two EFL Trophy games against Bolton and Rotherham.
