Report: ‘Outstanding’ Leeds target is now thinking about leaving his club, he can help Calvert-Lewin

Before the transfer window closes, Leeds United are still looking to add some attacking talent.

Fans who watched Leeds’ struggles against a weakened Sheffield Wednesday side in the EFL Cup will understand why – Daniel Farke’s side are lacking goals.

Of course, with Lukas Nmecha and Dominic Calvert-Lewin added to a striking department that already boasts Joel Piroe, there’s not much room for another striker to come in.

But following Noah Okafor’s arrival at Elland Road, Leeds still want to add another winger and a number 10.

In fact, TBR Football recently shared that Leeds still want Emiliano Buendia from Aston Villa, as well as Manor Solomon from Tottenham Hotspur.

Emiliano Buendia is thinking about leaving Aston Villa amid interest from Leeds

With that in mind, The Athletic have now shared a report detailing that Emiliano Buendia is considering his future at Villa Park.

After returning from his loan at Bayer Leverkusen for the latter half of last season, Buendia started in Villa’s defeat to Brentford last weekend, but he was hooked after 59 minutes.

And according to the report mentioned, Buendia’s future at Villa is ‘uncertain’.

In fact, Unai Emery’s side have just rejected an initial loan with an option to buy offer from Stuttgart for their ‘outstanding’ attacking midfielder – as dubbed by Farke himself when speaking in 2021.

Towards the beginning of the summer, Buendia was keen to stay at Villa and he enjoyed an impressive pre-season which seemingly sparked that thought for Emery too.

However, the 28-year-old is now weighing up a potential departure, and Leeds’ interest in Buendia has never gone away.

Aside from Brendan Aaronson, Leeds are lacking a natural number 10 in their squad.

And if scoring goals prevails as an issue for Farke’s side, Buendia certainly has the Premier League experience to help.

Emiliano Buendia can help Dominic Calvert-Lewin find his feet at Leeds

Calvert-Lewin made his Leeds debut in the club’s EFL Cup exit on Tuesday night – one that won’t be remembered for obvious reasons.

And although the Englishman was getting in all of the right places after coming on as a substitute, he looked incredibly rusty in front of goal, and also bereft of confidence.

In terms of the 28-year-old getting back to his best, he might simply need the chances to keep pouring in.

Eventually, if Calvert-Lewin keeps getting good chances, he will improve, and if he ever gets back to his best under Carlo Ancelotti at Everton, he could be crucial for Leeds.

That being said, Buendia is definitely the kind of player who can supply chances for Calvert-Lewin on a regular basis.

And with a midfield of Anton Stach and Ao Tanaka behind him, Buendia could be the catalyst that Farke’s team are crying out for.
