Lakers trading LeBron James to Warriors 'likely' off the table, per insider

It was reported by Jake Fischer over the weekend that the Golden State Warriors still have interest in trading for LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers.

As of now, the Lakers have been unwilling to move on from James, and for good reason.

Even if the Lakers don't believe that James is still one of the best players in the world, which he probably is, even at 40 years old, the money he brings to Los Angeles can't go unnoticed. James is a massive figure and someone who makes sense playing for the Lakers due to their status.

LeBron to Warriors unlikely?

Despite that, Sam Quinn of CBS Sports doesn't believe a trade will happen soon. He noted that a trade is likely off the table at this point.

“So for the time being, a James-to-Golden State trade is probably off of the table. But Fischer's reporting was an important reminder that we do know of at least one team that is probably still interested in James. That team is comfortable pursuing him during the season, as it has made overtures at the last two trade deadlines. So even if a trade doesn't make sense at this very moment, there's a team worth monitoring as the offseason progresses and the regular season potentially begins,” [he wrote](https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/a-lebron-james-warriors-trade-doesnt-make-sense-yet-but-heres-why-that-could-change-in-the-coming-months/).

While the trade might not happen right now, Quinn brings up a few good points.

If the Lakers want to move on from James during the middle of the season, they know the Warriors have some interest. Whether they can actually get a deal done remains to be seen, but it's ideal for Los Angeles to have a team to trade him to.
