The Boston Celtics find themselves in the middle of a dead period in the NBA offseason. With a lot of free time on their hands, the team decided to chime in on some of the biggest news in sports on Tuesday.
While Tuesday was roster cut day in the NFL, it also ended up being the day that star Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and superstar musician Taylor Swift announced their engagement.
Since they began dating back in July 2023, Kelce and Swift have been one of the most high-profile couples in the world. Unsurprisingly, their engagement announcement drew tons of reactions from folks on social media.
That included the Celtics, who put their own spin on the news. The C’s social media team made a post teasing the eventual return of basketball, while also highlighting how close Swift’s new album “The Life of a Showgirl” is to getting released.
“Days since Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce got engaged: 0 Days until The Life of a Showgirl drops: 37 Days until Celtics basketball: 56,” the Celtics said in a post on X.

When Boston does return to the court for the 2025-26 season, they are going to look quite different. Not only is Jayson Tatum set to miss the majority of the year after suffering a torn Achilles tendon, but Jrue Holiday, Kristaps Porzingis and Luke Kornet are all on new teams.
Still, with Jaylen Brown and Derrick White still leading the way, the C’s aren’t going to go away next season. They won’t be title contenders like they have been in recent seasons when they return to action, but you can bet fans are counting the days until Celtics basketball is back.
