Official: 26-year-old Barcelona player renews contract and leaves on loan to Elche

It is no surprise that FC Barcelona are currently working on finalising certain departures. However, it was expected that some progress would be made this week. Now, Barça has officially confirmed a certain departure.

According to the [club’s official statement](https://www.fcbarcelona.com/en/football/first-team/news/4351043/inaki-pena-contract-extension-to-2029-and-loan-to-elche), 26-year-old Spanish goalkeeper Inaki Pena is now set to join Elche on a one-year loan deal. The La Liga team should be a good side for Pena to join, as it should allow him to get more minutes.

Moreover, Barça has confirmed that the player has extended his contract until 2029 as well. This was previously reported as being one certain condition that the club had in mind to facilitate Pena’s departure this summer.

Interestingly, this will not be the Spaniard’s first time going out on loan. Previously, he joined Turkish side Galatasaray on loan as well, before eventually returning to Barça, and it appears that his plan is still the same.

However, this is not the only operation that the club will be looking to close out soon. With Pena’s exit now out of the way, Barça can focus on other cases, such as those of Oriol Romeu and Hector Fort as well, considering that reports have consistently stated that exits for both players are planned.
