“Fan fiction” for now – Agent connection encourages hope on Arsenal striker move

More noise, same story: Gabriel Jesus and Palmeiras continue to be linked, but with nothing remotely close to a deal.

This time, the update comes via [**Jorge Nicola**](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MHngY1aWYnw&ab_channel=CanaldoNicola), who commented on local journalist Benjamin Back’s claim that the Arsenal striker could eventually make a return to the Brazilian club.

Back is known for his close ties to Paulo Pitombeira, Gabriel Jesus’s agent, and suggested that a deal could be on the cards. Nicola acknowledged that connection, but poured cold water on the idea of anything imminent.

According to him, Jesus does maintain a strong relationship with Palmeiras’ top brass, including Leila Pereira and sporting director Anderson Barros. He reportedly speaks to them frequently.

However, there are plenty of roadblocks. The most immediate one is fitness. Gabriel Jesus is still recovering from a serious ACL injury and has only just started light field work. A return to full action is not expected until October.

Then comes the financial side. As Nicola notes once again, the striker earns around €1.1m per month at Arsenal – a figure that effectively rules out any Brazilian club, Palmeiras included, from making a realistic move before the transfer window closes next Tuesday.

Adding to that, Palmeiras already splashed €25m on Vitor Roque earlier this year. The former Barcelona youngster is now finally clicking, especially when paired with Flaco López, making another big-money attacking signing seem highly unlikely.

There’s still a lingering idea that Gabriel Jesus could return to Palmeiras at some point. Nicola says the player would likely prioritise them in any move back to Brazil. But for now, according to him, imagining him in green again feels more like “fan fiction” than transfer planning.
