Manchester United and Al-Nassr are interested in signing Internacional starlet Ricardo Mathias
It is perhaps no surprise that Manchester United have made a slow start to the 2025/26 season.
Their opening fixture at home against Arsenal was always going to be difficult, considering both teams’ trajectory in recent years. Ruben Amorim’s lost 1-0 to the Gunners despite playing well for large parts of the game. The expectations from the fans was to see the boys build on the performance against Arsenal and get the three points away at Fulham. However, bar the opening 15 to 20 minutes, Fulham were the better side on Sunday and held the visitors to a 1-1 draw.
Regardless of spending over £200m on an entirely new attacking tripod of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko, Manchester United are yet to score a goal this season. It was Leny Yoro’s header that deflected off Rodrigo Muniz and went in against Fulham, thereby, ending in an own goal.
With two games done and dusted in the league and a Man United player yet to score thus far, it looks like INEOS could deliver a late surprise by signing another forward.
Manchester United and Al-Nassr are interested in signing Internacional starlet Ricardo Mathias.

Man United, Al-Nassr eye move for Internacional teenage prodigy
According to journalist Alexandre Ernst of SC Inter, Internacional have rejected Al-Nassr’s €13m bid for teenage sensation Ricardo Mathias, who is also a Manchester United target. The Brazilian club believe the forward is worth more than Al-Nassr’s failed opening offer, and won’t entertain negotiations below the €20m mark.
Despite Internacional struggling in Serie A of the Brazilian league, Ricardo Mathias has been one of the rare bright sparks of their season. He has netted five goals already this season, catching the attention several clubs from all across the globe.
A Man United scout watched the Brazilian in action for Inter against Fluminense at the iconic Maracanã Stadium earlier this month. Inter drew 1-1 with Fluminense, the night that saw them bow out of the Copa do Brasil.

The Red Devils’ focus remains on strengthening other areas of the pitch
INEOS are eyeing a new goalkeeper in the final days of the transfer window. They are trying hard to wrap up the deal for Royal Antwerp goalkeeper Senne Lammens, whose potential arrival could plunge Andre Onana’s future at Old Trafford further into doubt.
The 20-time English champions also want to sign a midfielder. They were keen on Carlos Baleba, but Brighton and Hove Albion have no intentions to sell him this summer. After making initial enquiries regarding the potential cost of the operation, United ended their interest in Baleba. However, INEOS have reportedly drawn a midfield shortlist that includes Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton and Morten Hjulmand of Sporting CP.
With a new goalkeeper and midfielder on the club’s agenda, it looks unlikely to see INEOS make a late swoop for another forward. This makes a potential deal for Mathias unrealistic at this stage of the window. If there is a change in plan and the club’s decision-makers decide to pursue the Inter starlet, he’d be a signing for the future.
