**Wolves**have rejected a second bid in a week for Jørgen Strand Larsen from Newcastle United.
The Toon submitted a £50 million bid for the forward earlier this week and then returned with a £55 million proposal for his services. However, **Wolves**have refused to budge on their desire to keep him.
There is no question for Vitor Pereira: he is not ruling out a sale but would love to keep the striker.
"Football is football and every player has a price. I understand football but for me it's very important for us. We’ll see what happens. If it's my decision, of course, he stays. He’s a very important player."
The manager knows that anything can happen, but he does not foresee a forcible exit from the player.
"I know a lot of players in my career in this situation and they have asked me not to play but he wants to play every time. He wants to help the team. In the last seven or eight months I am with him, I know him very well. He will never force. We know football is football. You must be ready for everything."
Wolves would be wise to fight for their number nine
**Wolves**walked into the new season without two key pieces in the team. Rayan Ait-Nouri is now a left back for Man City, and Matheus Cunha, their top scorer with 15 strikes, is already making a mark at Man United. In a matter of months, they ripped up their left flank and lost their talisman.
Apart from this pair, one of their most critical men, who remains in their ranks, is Strand Larsen. The **Norway**international had hit 13 goals in LaLiga for Celta Vigo to earn the transfer to the Black Country, and he registered 14 strikes last term in the Premier League, only one fewer than Cunha.
**Fer Lopez**has come permanently from Spain with Strand Larsen, but the 21-year-old is still maturing in the game. Much older is Jhon Arias, who joined from **Fluminense**after earning a spot in the Club World Cup Team of the Tournament, but he still needs "time to understand everything tactically."
The Premier League has a habit of punishing clubs that try to rewrite the rulebook. The 25-year-old brings the biggest guarantee of goals to win games, and his team are not in a position to give them up.
The striker is in even hotter demand after his exploits in midweek. **Wolves**went 2-1 down to West Ham United with half an hour to go in this second round Carabao Cup tie. He came off the bench to become the saviour, bagging a brace in two minutes and the first victory of the campaign for the hosts.
Before this triumph, **Wolves**were in low spirits. Winless in their six preseason fixtures, they lost 4-0 to Man City at the Molineux Stadium before suffering another goalless defeat at Bournemouth.
Pereira believes that this result "can build momentum" as the side seek to move to safety. If they now sacrifice their main marksman, it will feel like undoing their good work without even kicking a ball.
Newcastle have shown that money and ambition are not enough. They have rejected a £110 million bid from **Liverpool**for the Swedish striker because of their struggles to find a replacement. With so little time left in the window, Wolves would be foolish to saddle themselves with the same problem.
