Chelsea'inform'Roma of George asking price, rule out certain transfer terms

Chelsea and Roma are reportedly yet to agree terms over the transfer of Tyrique George.

At a time when much focus is being placed on trying to facilitate exits for Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson, the future of George has remained very much up in the air.

The 19-year-old has contributed three goals and five assists from his 26 senior appearances since graduating from the club's academy.

However, the influx of attacking talent at Stamford Bridge means that the starlet has been required to weigh up his next move.

Recent reports have indicated that the England Under-19 international is prepared to depart West London in search of regular football.

What do Chelsea want to receive for George sale?

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea have requested that Roma pay €30m (£25.87m) with add-ons and a sell-on clause.

A different journalist Aaron Ramiro, who was also commenting on X, has suggested that Roma are attempting to wrap up a deal for £15m with a 40% sell-on clause.

As such, it appears that the two clubs are wide apart in their valuations, Romano adding that Roma do not have the budget to meet Chelsea's initial demands.

Furthermore, Chelsea are against allowing George to move to a foreign club on loan due to only having one such loan slot available.

Roma have essentially been left to decide whether to up their offer, or hope that Chelsea will look to reach a compromise over a deal that would be significantly beneficial with regards to complying with the Premier League's and UEFA's financial regulations.

George has just two years remaining on his contract, another factor that Chelsea will take into consideration during further negotiations.

Could George bide his time?

With Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho expected to rival Jamie Gittens for the left-wing spot at Stamford Bridge, George is seemingly settled on moving elsewhere.

Should a Premier League club propose an attractive loan deal, it remains to be seen what George or Chelsea would do when the player may still have ambitions of eventually becoming a star at Stamford Bridge.

Although penning a long-term contract at Roma may be an option too good to turn down, George could flourish with regular football at an English club and leave Chelsea with the opportunity to retain his services in the long term.
