Report: Seahawks claim ex-Rams cornerback off waivers

The Seattle Seahawks claimed former Los Angeles Rams starting cornerback Derion Kendrick off waivers on Wednesday morning, according to Sports Illustrated senior NFL reporter Albert Breer.

The Seahawks will have to make a corresponding move to clear space on their 53-man roster.

What stands out from Seahawks’ 53-man roster decisions

Kendrick, a 2022 sixth-round draft pick out of Georgia, made a combined 18 starts for the Rams over his first two NFL seasons. He totaled an interception and 14 pass breakups over that span. That lone interception came in a November 2023 game against the Seahawks, when he picked off Drew Lock on a fourth-quarter sideline pass intended for Tyler Lockett.

Kendrick missed the 2024 season with a torn ACL and was waived by the Rams on Tuesday as part of their roster cutdown.

Seattle currently has five cornerbacks on its 53-man roster: Devon Witherspoon, Riq Woolen, Josh Jobe, Shaquill Griffen and Nehemiah Pritchett.

The Seahawks didn’t have any players claimed off waivers following Tuesday’s cut down to 53, according to Breer.
