Oliver Glasner wants new recruits at Crystal Palace and the rumour mill has been busy suggesting targets.
Crystal Palace have lost star man Eberechi Eze to Arsenal since the start of the Premier League season and there are fears that commanding centre-back Marc Guehi could follow amid interest from top flight rivals.
The Eagles are used to seeing their top talent snapped up but this summer’s departures have left Oliver Glasner frustrated by a lack of incomings as he tries to balance another strong league campaign with European football.
With less than a week left of the transfer window, LondonWorld looks at the current Crystal Palace transfer rumours to imagine a ‘dream’ starting XI after Deadline Day.
Crystal Palace XI if transfer rumours are true
Goalkeeper: Dean Henderson
Centre-Backs: Maxence Lacroix, Chris Richards, Manuel Akanji
Walter Benitez has arrived at Selhurst Park from PSV Eindhoven to challenge Dean Henderson for the starting spot in between the sticks but the England international is going to take some beating. Henderson has started every game so far this season and maintained his place in the Europa Conference League fixture against Fredrikstad.
With Eberechi Eze now officially departed, all eyes turn to centre-back Marc Guehi, who seems poised to leave the club on a £35 million move given that his contract expires next year. The Liverpool Echo continues to tout Liverpool as frontrunners but Manchester City could hijack a move.
That will leave Crystal Palace in serious need of a quality replacement to partner Chris Richards and Maxence Lacroix in defence. CaughtOffside believe that the Eagles have tabled a £15 million bid for Manchester City man Manuel Akanji.
Real Madrid plot late Adam Wharton swoop
Wing-Backs: Borna Sosa, Daniel Munoz
Defensive Midfielders: Conor Gallagher, Will Hughes
Crystal Palace snapped up Borna Sosa from Ajax on a free transfer this summer and that looks a real coup. The 27-year-old is being eased into action by Glasner but was hugely impressive when handed his first start against Fredrikstad and could well make that left wing back role his own. Daniel Munoz continues on the opposite flank.
A worrying transfer update is coming from Spain this week with AS reporting that Real Madrid could try and sign Adam Wharton in a last-ditch move this window should Dani Ceballos leave the club. Should that happen, The Sun reports that Crystal Palace are monitoring a swoop for Atletico Madrid star Conor Gallagher, who impressed during his previous loan spell at Selhurst Park.
Crystal Palace target Premier League duo
Attacking Midfielders: Harvey Elliott, Yeremy
Striker: Jean-Philippe Mateta
The departure of Eze and the healthy cash injection into the Crystal Palace funds has led to an onslaught of links with attacking midfielders. Liverpool talent Harvey Elliott is one player who has been linked with the London outfit all summer and Football Insider claims that there are talks in place between the two clubs.
Meanwhile, it appears that Villarreal talent Yeremy is on his way to Crystal Palace with Fabrizio Romano giving that move his ‘here we go’ treatment on Tuesday night. Jean-Philippe Mateta remains a hugely important presence up front.
In other news, Villarreal fan tells Crystal Palace what to expect from Yeremy Pino as £26m transfer nears.
