**There's less than a week left of the summer transfer window, and we're still talking more about Alexander Isak than anything else as the Newcastle United striker continues his crusade against the club.**
While it's depressing that we're still having to talk about this on a daily basis, the good news is that this time next week, we'll know exactly where we stand with it all.
At least for now.
Speaking on The Rest Is Football podcast, host Gary Lineker has voiced his concerns about what may happen if there's no resolution by next week.
Gary Lineker says this saga could drag on beyond this summer
------------------------------------------------------------
Alan Shearer had confidently stated that a resolution should be found by the weekend, which, in an ideal world, would be fantastic, but Gary Lineker made a point that we're more inclined to believe is the likely option.
> "I've got a feeling it might go to the wire. I can't see Isak changing his tune, and it has to come from him \[for him to play for Newcastle again\], unless there's a deal done. If there's a deal done, it will obviously work out before."But if it stays as a stalemate, it goes to the end of the window. Then if nothing happens... because it's not easy getting a transfer over the line anyway, particularly one with these complications and the amount of money involved.

> "If they don't, then it will drift on to January, I guess, which is no good for anyone, unless Isak changes his tune when he realises he can't play for a few months."
Shifting Alexander Isak in January is going to be even harder
-------------------------------------------------------------
Isak is likely to return to playing for Newcastle if he doesn't get his move in the summer, but all of this drama will return in January, as we imagine part of the arrangement will be that they try and move him on in the winter window.
We're not sure how that will go as the January transfer window is even harder to navigate than the summer one, and losing a player like Isak in the middle of a season is surely the last thing the club will want.
Let's just hope we get everything resolved ASAP, and we can stop thinking about it all for a while at least.
