West Ham revive move to sign 29-year-old Club World Cup revelation, details revealed

West Ham United have revived their interest in Brazilian goalkeeper John Victor, and they are plotting a loan agreement with a buy option.

According to Ben Jacobs, West Ham United have revived their interest in John Victor, and they are plotting a fresh move for the goalkeeper. The Hammers are now keen to land the Brazilian on a loan deal with a purchase option despite having an agreement earlier in the window over a permanent deal.

West Ham United have come under the microscope for their performances in the opening part of the season. A 3-0 away loss to Sunderland on the opening weekend, followed by a 5-1 thrashing at the hands of Chelsea, as well as the disappointing loss to Wolves in the Carabao Cup, has left the fans disgruntled.

During those performances, summer arrival Mads Hermansen has come under the microscope for his performances. There is some context to the former Leicester City star’s arrival, as West Ham had been chasing other targets.

One of those was John Victor, and the Hammers advanced talks with Botafogo earlier in the window. Back then, as per Ben Jacobs, the East London outfit had an agreement worth €10 million for the shot stopper following his impressive displays in Brazil and then at the Club World Cup.

However, the move for Victor stalled following Graham Potter’s insistence on signing Hermansen from Leicester City. For now, the performances of the Danish stopper have not been convincing, especially given the price West Ham paid for his acquisition. Hence, the Hammers are back in the hunt for Victor, as they are now expected to hold fresh talks with Botafogo.

West Ham plot loan move for John Victor

West Ham United are now in emergency mode to get a new goalkeeper in place and have revived their interest in John. The Hammers are now plotting a loan deal for the 29-year-old Club World Cup revelation with a buy option, and will hope to convince Botafogo over a deal.

Earlier, John Victor appeared open to joining the Hammers as his pathway to English football, and could still open the doors to a switch. It remains to be seen whether Botafogo are in agreement with the Hammers over a loan move, as they might lean towards a permanent sale rather than a temporary move for the 29-year-old.
