Everton were up against Mansfield Town in the second round of the Carabao Cup.
David Moyes’ side played their first-ever League Cup game at the new state-of-the-art Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Mansfield, who ply their trade in the third tier, took a whopping 6,000 supporters to Merseyside, clearly wanting to tick a new ground off their list.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Nigel Clough admitted he was relishing playing at Everton’s stadium.
Moyes fielded a strong starting line-up and one Everton player was actually getting booed by the away fans.

Mansfield Town fans were booing Everton winger Jack Grealish
Everton had a number of big-name players on the pitch against Mansfield, however, perhaps none more so than Jack Grealish.
Interestingly, Grealish was getting booed by the Mansfield fans as they were clearly fearful of his attacking threat.
“Jack Grealish is met by boos every time he gets the ball by Mansfield fans. Not too sure why but they normally come back to bite you,” the BBC Sport live feed wrote.

The Manchester City loanee was constantly driving into the final third and setting up chances for his teammates.
Mansfield players had to resort to fouling Grealish on a number of occasions, which sparked jeers in the away end.
That’ll be something he has to get used to at Everton, as he’s now clearly become the star player.
Jack Grealish’s first-half against Mansfield Town in numbers
Grealish was excellent in his full debut against Brighton on the weekend, and he looked just as silky in the first half this evening.
Judging by his Sofascore statistics, he could’ve quite easily registered one or two assists, as he made three key passes.
30 touches
95% pass accuracy
3 key passes
1 successful dribble
The former England international already looks so at home in an Everton shirt, and it wouldn’t at all be surprising to see him back in Thomas Tuchel’s plans next month.
Speaking after the Brighton game, Grealish said he feels like he can play with freedom under Moyes, which he didn’t really have at Man City.
