Guido Rodriguez’s future at West Ham appears to have just taken a twist.

The Argentine started in the Hammers’ heavy defeat to Sunderland on the opening day of the new Premier League campaign, and he has been linked with a move away just one year after joining.

West Ham have faced interest in Rodriguez from Espanyol in recent days, but the La Liga side have been reluctant to do business, despite the insignificant asking price of £4.3million.

The 31-year-old hasn’t been a regular for Graham Potter since he took charge back in January, and his situation in E20 could now be about to change once again.

Juventus eye move for Guido Rodriguez

It has also been suggested that West Ham could tear up Rodriguez’s contract in order to allow him to join Real Betis, who are also pushing to secure his signature.

MORE WEST HAM STORIES

The midfielder spent over four seasons with the Sevilla-based outfit prior to his move to the Premier League, and a return to La Liga has seemed like a strong possibility of late.

However, the story surrounding Rodriguez’s future at the London Stadium has now taken another turn, with Juventus considering a move for him, according to Turin-based outlet Tuttosport.

It is understood that their general manager Damien Comolli is weighing up the possibility of a move for the Irons’ star as a potential option to strengthen their ranks in the middle of the park.

West Ham need to sell Guido Rodriguez

Rodriguez turned in another poor performance for West Ham in the recent Carabao Cup defeat to Wolves, and it was yet another example of why he shouldn’t have a future in East London.

The Argentine joined West Ham on a free transfer last summer

He conceded a penalty in the latter stages of the first half, and simply isn’t mobile enough to play in a Premier League midfield.

The Hammers have had issues in the middle of the park across the last few seasons now, and that should have been a key priority for them this summer.

Edson Alvarez has already departed recently, and Rodriguez should be following him out of the door.

Ultimately, West Ham shouldn’t be too precious as to who they sell him to, but interest from a team of Juventus’ stature should help them to push the player towards the exit door.
