Manchester United were hoping for a first win of the season on Wednesday against Grimsby, but things haven't gone to plan so far.

United are 2-0 down at half time. Grimsby took the lead when Charles Vernam's effort beat Andre Onana at his front post, and Onana made another mistake just eight minutes later as he failed to deal with a cross and Tyrell Warren bundled the ball home.

Ruben Amorim will hope his side can mount a comeback in the second half, and he has plenty of options available to him on the bench. Bryan Mbeumo and Bruno Fernandes could be introduced in the second half, while Mason Mount and Joshua Zirkzee could also be turned to.

So, if United can get themselves back into the game, could it go to extra-time?

Is there extra time in the Carabao Cup?

If the scores are level after 90 minutes, the game will not go to extra-time.

The winner will be determined by a penalty shootout straight after the final whistle.

Extra-time will be used in the latter stages of the competition, but it is only introduced at the semi-final stage.
