'They think': David Ornstein shares whether PSG internally believe Man City will sign Gianluigi …

Gianluigi Donnarumma’s potential move to Manchester City has dominated headlines surrounding the club in the past few weeks.

Manchester City are working tirelessly to sign Donnarumma — who recently announced that he will leave Paris Saint-Germain.

However, the Italian captain’s potential move to City is tied to Ederson, who could leave the Etihad Stadium by the end of the summer transfer window.

Gianluigi Donnarumma is one of the best goalkeepers in the world and if the Sky Blues were to sign him, such an acquisition could give Pep Guardiola a better chance of winning major trophies this season.

PSG expect Gianluigi Donnarumma to sign for Man City

Manchester City could reportedly forego Donnarumma’s signing if they are dissatisfied with PSG’s asking price and wait to snap him up in either January or in the summer of 2026.

However, as things stand, Manchester City News have confirmed that Ederson is keen to join Galatasaray.

Journalist David Ornstein told The Athletic FC Podcast that PSG expect Donnarumma to become a Manchester City player: “There’s been some contact with PSG but it’s not said to be advanced yet, certainly no agreement. City are kind of saying it’s not negotiations, it’s that, ‘we’re aware of the situation, it’s a dialogue between the clubs.’ Semantics, really. The word from PSG is that they think he will end up there, maybe it goes down to the last minute of deadline day.”

“They think Donnarumma will end up at City. I don’t know if that’s wishful thinking because they’ve already said very public goodbyes, maybe that’s why they said their goodbyes to get this moving.”

When Man City could complete Gianluigi Donnarumma move

Judging by David Ornstein’s revelation, it seems like PSG have full confidence in the fact that Donnarumma will sign for Manchester City.

However, Eberechi Eze’s decision to snub Tottenham for Arsenal sums up how unpredictable the world of football transfers can be.

Donnarumma could join Manchester City on deadline day despite Galatasaray showing interest in his signature.

However, the goalkeeper is not believed to fancy a move to Rams Park.
