The move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium has been described as being "a new dawn" for the club by Everton. And a set of spectacular photographs show the Blues' new 52,769-capacity home under the floodlights as it hosted the club's first evening game of the season.

The new venue has taken its place as the new jewel in the crown along Liverpool’s world-famous maritime cityscape. Designed by , the US architect described how he wanted to create a building that would fit in among its surroundings. He said: “Really the idea was to make the new stadium feel like it's always been here and belongs in this area.

“Sure, there's a futuristic element, but it really feels like it grew out of the dock. It feels part of the history of Liverpool and the docks, and yet something very new, too.”

It was a with the Blues winning their first competitive fixture against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday, August 23.

Tonight saw the first full evening match at the new stadium, with the Toffees securing a 2-0 victory over Mansfield Town to progress to the third round of the Carabao Cup.
