Former North Dakota State quarterbacks Cam Miller and Easton Stick will stay in the NFL.
The two were signed to the practice squads of the Las Vegas Raiders and the Atlanta Falcons respectively on Wednesday, one day after they were cut from the 53-man rosters.

Two former Bison offensive linemen, rookie Mason Miller and veteran Jake Kubas, were also signed to practice squads. Miller remained with the Detroit Lions, who signed him as an undrafted free agent last spring, while Kubas stayed with the New York Giants. Former NDSU cornerback Jayden Price was signed to the New Orleans Saints' practice squad.
Practice squads allow NFL teams to keep promising players, mostly young players but also a limited number of veterans. In 2025, NFL practice squad salaries are $13,000 per week for players with two or fewer years of service, and a minimum of $17,500 to a maximum of $22,000 per week for players with more than two years of service
Cam Miller, Stick and former NDSU offensive lineman Cordell Volson were perhaps the most surprising cuts on Tuesday's NFL cutdown day. Volson was let go by the Bengals after injuring his shoulder in training camp, which will sideline him for this season, Miller was a sixth-round draft choice by the Raiders in April and Stick signed with the Falcons as a free agent after five years with the Los Angeles Chargers.
But the Raiders brought back Miller, who played well in preseason games. The Falcons kept Stick, who was expected to be part of the team's 53-man roster when he signed but was caught in a numbers game when Atlanta didn't trade Kirk Cousins.
Practice squad players do everything active players would during the week including practices, film work and eating meals at the team facility. They are with the team for home games and travel for road games, but are in street clothes.

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of "staff." Often, the "staff" byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
