Albion told their next Carabao Cup opponents after big win at Oxford United

[Albion](https://www.theargus.co.uk/sport/albion/) face a trek to Yorkshire in the Carabao Cup.

They were handed a third-round tie at Barnsley in tonight’s draw.

The Seagulls will face Championship opponents again after their 6-0 romp at Oxford United.

Barnsley’s forward line this season includes Caylan Vickers, who is on loan from Albion and will therefore be ineligible for the tie.

The Seagulls have not visited Oakwell since the 2016-17 promotion season, when Sam Baldock scored both goals in a 2 -0 win.

Ties will take place in the weeks beginning September 15 and September 22.

Four Premier League teams and three Championship high-flyers went out on Tuesday and they were followed by Manchester United tonight.

United suffered one of the biggest shocks in the history of the League Cup as they were dumped out on penalties by League Two Grimsby.

The pressure increased on boss Ruben Amorim after they went down 12-11 in an epic 18-minute penalty shootout at Blundell Park, with Bryan Mbeumo missing the decisive kick.

United had to come from 2-0 down at half-time as the Mariners stunned their heavyweight opponents with goals from Charles Vernam and Tyrell Warren.

Mbeumo brought Amorim’s side back into it and then Harry Maguire forced the shootout with a late header, but Grimsby were not to be denied a famous victory.

Second-half goals from Charly Alcaraz and substitute Beto saw Everton ease into the third round with a routine 2-0 win over League One Mansfield.
