Travis Hunter took home the Heisman Trophy for 2024, becoming just the second player in Colorado history to do so, joining running back Rashaan Salaam, who won the award in 1994. Hunter is also the first two-way star to win it since Michigan's Charles Woodson in 1997.
Joining Hunter for the ceremony were members of his family, Colorado coach Deion Sanders, rapper Lil Wayne and more. They will support the first round draft pick as he begins his NFL career with the Jaguars.

Travis Hunter wife: Leanna Lenee
Hunter and Lenee got married in May 2025 at The Barn at Faith Farms, a luxury venue in Tennessee, according to People. The couple posted photos of the ceremony on Instagram and were shouted out by the NFL.
The two began dating in 2022 while they were in high school and continued their romance when Hunter went to Jackson State and then Colorado. Their relationship drew some online criticism last year, after videos from the Heisman Trophy ceremony and a public photo op seemed to show Lenee and Hunter were not on the best of terms.
However, Lenee attended the 2025 NFL Draft in Green Bay with Hunter's mother and father, and there doesn't appear to be any trouble between the couple now.

Travis Hunter dad: Travis Hunter Sr.
Hunter's father is Travis Hunter Sr., who ran track and played football for Boynton Beach High School in Florida. He once ran a 10.82-second 100-meter race as a 15-year-old freshman and was on a 4x100-meter relay that set a school record.
Hunter Sr. also played semi-professional football for the Florida Football Alliance and Southern States Football League. He won the Offensive Rookie of the Year award for the SSFL in 2007.
In 2023, Travis Hunter Sr. was arrested on gun-and-drug-related charges. While the specifics are not known, he pled guilty to three counts, including a felony, related to the 2023 arrest, per Yahoo Sports.
Hunter Sr. was not in attendance for his son's Heisman Trophy ceremony, but he was present for the NFL Draft.

Hunter and wife Leanna Lenee had their first son in 2025. They documented Lenee's pregnancy on Hunter's YouTube channel. His name and birth date have not yet been revealed.

Hunter's mother is Ferrante Edmonds, who supported him at the Heisman ceremony while his dad was unable to attend. In March 2024, he surprised her with a new, five-bedroom house in Savannah, Georgia, and he posted a video of the reveal to his YouTube channel.

Hunter's grandmother, Shirley, is also an influential presence in his life and first introduced him to football when he was growing up in Palm Beach County, Florida. She held her own watch party on the night of the NFL Draft and celebrated with family and friends when Travis was picked by Jacksonville.

Hunter has a younger brother named Trayvis. He plays football for Collins Hill High School in Suwanee, Georgia.
Trayvis is a three-star recruit in the class of 2027, per 247 Sports. He caught 11 receptions for 2023 yards and added five total tackles in his freshman year in 2023, according to MaxPreps. Trayvis took an unofficial visit to Florida State last year.

Hunter's youngest sibling, Junior, is currently in kindergarten, according to Essentially Sports. If his older brothers are any indication, he could develop into a football phenom himself.

Where is Travis Hunter from?
Hunter initially grew up in West Palm Beach, Florida. When he was in high school, he moved to Suwanee, Georgia, where he played high school football at Collins Hill High School. He credited his mother in his Heisman speech for moving him to Georgia and out of the "bad area" that he lived in in Florida previously.
Hunter was a highly-touted recruit from the class of 2022. A former 5-star prospect per 247Sports and the No. 1 overall ranked player in the county, Hunter committed to Florida State for most of his recruiting process, but during the Early Signing Period in December 2021, he shocked the college football world when he flipped to HBCU Jackson State and signed with Deion Sanders' team.
Hunter signed as the nation's top cornerback and top prospect out of the state of Georgia in the class of 2022.
