Cherries must be braver in attack and will learn from Bees defeat: Iraola

The Cherries fell to a 2-0 defeat at the Vitality Stadium on Tuesday night, conceding once in each half as they struggled to break down a resolute Bees side.

Match report:

Scott admitted to the Daily Echo at the weekend that the team had battled against Wolves when they went down to ten men and were content to sit deep, too.

“It's happening early, but obviously it's still in the season,” he said.

“We'd probably prefer it to be in preseason rather than now because we're losing games. But we can learn from it and take things from today that we didn't do so well.

“We'll go over the game for sure and see where we can break teams down more because that's what's let us down today.

(Image: Richard Crease) “Obviously against Wolves it was tough as well, but I think we've just got to be braver.

“We've got to try more things, more forward runs and have a clear plan of what we want to do and how we're going to break down teams.

“So that's something to look at and take to the training ground and hopefully we can sort it.”

Andoni Iraola said the Cherries lacked some intensity against Brentford, admitting he perhaps made too many changes to the starting XI from the weekend.

(Image: Richard Crease) Asked what he felt the reason for that was, Scott said: “I think the first half especially, we went through it at half time and the intensity wasn't good enough off the ball and on the ball as well, I think.

“Second half it was probably a bit better, pressing a lot higher and getting after them, but it's tough.

“We played on Saturday, we play again today, but that's football and it's down to us to create that spark and get ourselves going for the game.

“And no, we didn't get that today and ultimately we've lost the game, we're out the cup, so it's disappointing.”
