Barcelona’s Fermin Lopez has emerged as a shock target for Chelsea in the closing stages of the summer transfer window.
The Blues have been linked with the same targets throughout a busy summer, but Barcelona star Fermin Lopez now appears to be on their radar.
Even though Barcelona fans don’t want Lopez to leave, the 22-year-old attacking midfielder is at the heart of fresh transfer speculation.
Apparently, Chelsea have offered Lopez a key role with them as they continue to strengthen their attacking options at Stamford Bridge. The versatile Spaniard, who can play in central or wide positions, would be a real coup for Enzo Maresca’s side.
Lopez is seriously considering a move to Chelsea, so this will be a saga to follow in the final few days of the window.

Fermin Lopez’s January heroics meant he did something no Barcelona player had done since Lionel Messi
Chelsea supporters who don’t watch much La Liga football won’t know too much about transfer target Lopez because he’s not a high-profile name in England. However, the Barcelona academy graduate has emerged as an important first-team player at the Camp Nou recently.
The playmaker has 89 first-team appearances for the Spanish giants, but his crowning moment so far must be his performance earlier this calendar year.
Back on 26 January 2025, Lopez delivered an outstanding performance when Barcelona recorded a 7-1 victory at home to Valencia in La Liga. He ripped the opposition to shreds last season with two goals and two assists, excelling in the No.10 position.

Remarkably, Lopez became the first Barcelona player since the iconic Lionel Messi against Real Valladolid in 2019 to score twice and assist twice in the same La Liga fixture.
It’s the sort of masterful performance that should excite Chelsea fans in the present day.
Blues head coach Enzo Maresca is believed to be a huge fan of Barcelona’s Lopez, but will he be in his squad by the time the window shuts?

At the age of 22, Lopez still has such incredible potential to improve and develop into one of the world’s best playmakers.
The reality is we’re not sure he should be a priority for Chelsea during what’s left of this summer window. However, it would be some statement to prize away one of Barcelona’s most talented youngsters.
