Newcastle United know they have just a matter of days left of the summer transfer window in order to complete any incoming and outgoing transfer business.

It's been a difficult summer for Eddie Howe's side having struggled to bring in a new striker following Callum Wilson's departure, while Alexander Isak's desire to leave the club has made matters worse.

It remains to be seen how that transfer saga will pan out, with the Swedish striker looking to force through a move to Liverpool.

With in mind, Chronicle Live has taken a look at the latest Newcastle United transfer news and speculation.

Swedish star 'does not recognise' Alexander Isak

Former Arsenal winger and Swedish international Freddie Ljungberg believes something 'very bad' has happened behind the scenes at St. James' Park with Alexander Isak.

"Something very bad has happened," he said, according to Göteborgs-Posten. "It’s not a good situation for anyone. Isak is a humble, calm and happy guy. I don’t recognise Isak. Something very bad has happened. He wants to force himself away, it’s a difficult situation."

Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel was of the same belief: "I don’t recognise Isak either. I think he has bad advisors."

Chronicle Live says: "The two former professionals are not the only stars to have said the behaviour from Alexander Isak has been 'out of character' this summer. Regardless of whether it is or not, Newcastle United fans have deserved far better than this summer's saga."

James Trafford linked with Man City departure

Former Newcastle United transfer target James Trafford has been linked with a shock loan move to Turkey according to Turkish media reports. Besiktas are said to be keen on a loan move for the Manchester City goalkeeper, less than a month after returning to the club.

Newcastle United had a bid accepted for the England youth international, before Pep Guardiola's side swooped in at the 11th hour, completing a deal at the end of July.

Politikam claims there's uncertainty about his immediate future given transfer speculation linking City with a move for PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Trafford has started both of Man City's opening two games of the top flight campaign and Ole Gunnar Solskjær's side are looking for a new number one.

Chronicle Live says: "It would be utterly bizarre if Trafford were to leave Man City having spoken about wanting to become the club's number one after a return. City's links with Donnarumma don't make much sense seeing as the Italian isn't great with the ball at his feet. Newcastle would be rightfully annoyed if the England youth international were to move to Turkey."
