Report: Leeds have now withdrawn special clause they wanted in Largie Ramazani loan

Leeds United and Valencia’s negotiations over winger Largie Ramazani are still ongoing, and now a specific clause the Yorkshire side asked for has been revealed.

The 24-year-old winger has had a tricky 12 months at Elland Road since his arrival from Almeria for £10m. Players such as Manor Solomon and Dan James meant that Ramazani was often left on the bench.

Ramazani’s hopes of more regular football were potentially heightened when Solomon returned to Tottenham but the arrival of Jack Harrison and Noah Okafor has meant Leeds are open to loaning out the youngster.

The Whites have already loaned out the likes of Max Wober, Mateo Joseph and Joe Gelhardt, who has gone back to Hull.

And now despite his possible disappointment of not being at Elland Road this season, there was one clause Leeds were pushing for which Ramazani could take as a positive.

Leeds United’s attempted loan clause revealed

Throughout the negotiations for Largie Ramazani’s loan to Valencia, Leeds United have made one thing clear: they see a future for the player at Elland Road.

Initially, Valencia sought a loan deal with an option to buy, which Leeds United immediately rejected. The Spanish club eventually conceded, agreeing to a straight loan without a permanent transfer option.

However, according to the local Valencia newspaper, Las Provincias, Leeds then introduced their own demand. They wanted a clause that would allow them to recall Ramazani if he didn’t play in at least half of Valencia’s matches, however Valencia refused this condition.

In the end, both clubs dropped their respective clauses. Leeds United’s firm stance throughout these talks, first rejecting an option-to-buy and then pushing for a recall clause, highlights their belief in Ramazani and their desire to keep him in their long-term plans.

It is believed Ramazani could be signed in time to play against Getafe on Friday.

Largie Ramazani’s Leeds United journey

Largie Ramazani’s time at Leeds United has shown flashes of promise but has been limited by a lack of consistent game time.

The 24-year-old was part of the promotion-winning squad last season and endeared himself to the fans with his exuberant celebrations, including a well-known viral clip of him dancing.

He made 31 appearances in all competitions for Leeds, but started only nine of these under manager Daniel Farke. While he contributed 7 goals and 2 assists, his opportunities were often sporadic.

He was an unused substitute in the first game of the current season and was not in the squad for the second, with Farke preferring other players in his position.

Despite this, Leeds United’s actions in the loan negotiations with Valencia demonstrate their belief in him. They have no interest in including a purchase option, which shows their long-term plans for him. This suggests that Leeds believe Ramazani has the talent to succeed but needs a consistent run of games to fully develop.
