Dominating The Draft

League-best.

Joe often types, only slightly tongue-in-cheek, that Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht should be in the Buccaneers Ring of Honor.

After Joe learned the following, that honor may be a low bar for Licht.

Per Jason Fitzgerald, the founder of OverTheCap.com, no team has a higher percentage of draft picks on its 2025 roster than the Bucs. Some 82 percent was drafted by Licht.

Well, former Bucs rock star general manager Mark Dominik drafted Lavonte David. So Licht’s batting average is just a hair below 82 percent.

Still, that’s much better than most of the league. And only four other teams have more than 70 percent homegrown players on their rosters.

Every once in a while, Joe reads a commenter on this here corner of the interwebs bellyache about Licht’s drafts.

OK then, who is better?

> The Bucs currently lead the NFL in homegrown players on the roster. 82.5% of their roster started with the Bucs. Ravens, Bills, Bengals and Colts are the other teams over 70%
