Fabrizio Romano has dropped fresh news on Arsenal’s move for Piero Hincapie. The Ecuadorian centre-back edging closer to the Emirates as talks drag on between the two clubs.
Romano shares fresh Hincapie update
**Arsenal**’s transfer window has been nothing short of relentless. Now, Bayer Leverkusen’s Piero Hincapie is the newest player on their list. Fabrizio Romano stats that the defender is prepared to leave. But, the clubs are still locked in transfer talks.
The Gunners aren’t short of new arrivals. Arteta has built a group ready to go toe-to-toe for the PL crown The timing makes sense. Jakub Kiwior is on the verge of a move to Porto. That leaves Arsenal short at the back.
Hincapie’s ability to play in both the middle and left side is exactly what Arteta wants. Tottenham had some interest as well. But, the player said he only sees his future in north London in red.
#AFC | Hincapié and Calafiori are quite different.
Hincapié is happy to remain holding width all game and loves to overlap. Not got as much of an urge to be inside the pitch.
Calafiori very bouncy in his movements and wants to feel the rhythm of the game more inside the pitch. pic.twitter.com/SWid7IDhqX

The price tag dilemma
Bayer Leverkusen are holding firm on their £52m release clause. With the clock ticking before the window closes, there’s growing belief they might soften that stance. Hincapie wants to see if he can make a success of a PL club. He has regularly made an impact in every game for his Bundesliga club.
Nevertheless, Arsenal know they need the numbers. The dealing with league fixtures simultaneously to UCL nights will not always be easy.
Arteta’s vision for Arsenal is quite clear. He clearly doesn’t wish to experience another disintegration like was experienced last season. He wants to integrate a young, versatile, and hungry defender to the defense.
Author’s Opinion
If Arsenal pull this off, it’s a statement move. Hincapie has the tools to become a starter, but even if he isn’t, he raises the standard of the squad. Arteta knows trophies are won with depth, not just star names.
