Fabrizio Romano Claims Man United Star Is "Not Happy" Following Amorim Decision

Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo is “not happy” with his lack of minutes at the start of this season, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano would not go as far as to say that the 20-year-old wants to leave, and he insists that the Red Devils are relaxed about the situation:

“Kobbie Mainoo is not happy to sit on the bench and play zero minutes. But I can guarantee that there are no negotiations, no bids, and no active talks for him to leave Man Utd.”

“The player is disappointed. It’s not an easy situation to handle. Man Utd still hope to control the situation. They hope to speak to Mainoo, to explain to him the situation around him. Let’s wait for the next steps, but for now, the situation is quite calm around Mainoo.”

Several journalists claim Mainoo is angling for a move

Ruben Amorim’s decision to leave the England international on the bench has prompted reports that the player is hoping to switch teams before the transfer window closes.

TalkSPORT‘s Alex Crook broke the news before the likes of The Athletic and The Guardian also made similar claims.

The likes of Chelsea, Tottenham and other Premier League clubs are believed to hold an interest in Mainoo. However, it is difficult to see the midfielder leaving due to the lack of time remaining ahead of Monday evening’s deadline.

The Man United star is likely to start on Wednesday night

While Mainoo has not played at all so far this campaign, that is expected to change when the Red Devils face Grimsby Town in the Carabao Cup.

Amorim stated in his pre-match press conference that he will be making several changes to the starting lineup that faced Fulham at the weekend, with his team playing 3 games in the space of 7 days.
