Largie Ramazani breaks silence on Leeds United exit ahead of loan transfer to Valencia

Largie Ramazani has spoken for the first time since landing in Spain ahead of his loan move to Valencia.

The Leeds United winger is due to link up with his new team imminently, with the deal expected to be formally announced soon. Ramazani has fallen down the pecking order under Daniel Farke, being left out of the squad entirely against Arsenal.

The manager said this was purely down to squad limits amidst the arrival of Noah Okafor, and that it wasn’t a decision “against Largie”. The Belgian evidently was not satisfied with his standing at Elland Road and Valencia came in with a loan proposal.

He landed in Spain on Wednesday evening ahead of a medical on Thursday. A video of him arriving at a hotel shows him replying “yeah, yeah” when asked if he was happy with the scheduled move. Another video shows him walking with a Valencia official pre-medical, as he navigates questions from reporters with short replies.

Spanish outlet AS has published further quotes from an interaction it claims happened the night before at Alicante Airport. The comments attributed to Ramazani read: “I'm very happy to be here and to be playing in La Liga again. I've spoken with [manager, Carlos] Corberán. I'm physically fit to play now.”

Ramazani played 63 games in La Liga for former club Almeria before his transfer to Leeds last summer. The attacker played 31 times across all competitions for the Whites, scoring seven goals and providing two assists.

However, he started just nine games and was publicly called out by Farke towards the end of last season to up his levels. After four games without coming off the bench, the 24-year-old played 24 minutes in the 6-0 promotion day win over Stoke City before scoring twice against Bristol City in the final 4-0 home game of the campaign.

In a chat with Leeds Live over the summer, Ramazani said he was “more than ready” for the Premier League, adding that he “matured a lot” from the experience of Farke’s public challenge. However, he failed to get onto the pitch on the opening night against Everton before being axed at Arsenal.
