Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has suggested that he will consider walking away from Old Trafford following Saturday's Premier League game against Burnley.
The Red Devils were disastrously knocked out of the EFL Cup by Grimsby Town on Tuesday night, losing 12-11 on penalties to the League Two outfit following a 2-2 draw.
Man United came back from two goals behind to force a penalty shootout, but Bryan Mbeumo's miss, in the second go round, saw Grimsby book their spot in the third round.
In his post-match interviews, Amorim cut a frustrated figure, with the Portuguese struggling to understand why he had seen such a poor level of performance from his players.
"You cannot change so much. You cannot change everything in one summer. You need to win games. You need to not show this kind of performance. I think this is a little bit the limit. I think something has to change. In this moment, we need to focus on the weekend and then we have time to think," he told reporters.
Amorim's words suggest that he is thinking about leaving following the Burnley match, with much potentially depending on what type of response he receives from his players.

Man United in crisis mode following shock Grimsby loss
There have been suggestions that Amorim could be sacked, but that is not thought to be a possibility at this stage, with Man United chiefs still having full confidence in the Portuguese.
However, Amorim is believed to have considered walking away from Man United in January, only to be talked round after being promised funds to improve the squad this summer.
There have been positive signs in the early stages of the 2025-26 Premier League despite only boasting one point from two matches, and better finishing would have seen them beat Fulham on Sunday.
However, the defeat to Grimsby was shocking, and Saturday's league fixture with Burnley has become a must-win match for the Red Devils, even at this stage of the campaign.
Amorim will speak again to the media on Friday ahead of the game with the Clarets, and he will be quizzed on what exactly he meant with his post-match comments on Wednesday night.

Statistics show Amorim's struggles at Old Trafford
Amorim has a win rate of just 24.7% in the Premier League, which is a worst record of any Man United boss since Sir Alex Ferguson departed, with David Moyes second on that list with 50%.
Man United have won just seven of their 29 league matches under Amorim, while last season's total of 42 points was their worst in Premier League history.
Amorim has taken charge of more Premier League games - 29 - than he has gathered points - 28 - while the Portuguese has only managed to guide the team to one win in five cup fixtures since his arrival at Old Trafford.
There was a lot of optimism surrounding the club during pre-season, but Amorim's reign is threatening to unravel, and it is set to be a fascinating few days at Old Trafford, with Saturday's contest with Burnley shaping up to be one of the team's most important in recent memory.
