Graffiti campaign as player urged to snub Wolves – Transfer has turned into a circus

Getafe forward Christantus Uche has found himself in the middle of a transfer circus as his potential move to Wolverhampton Wanderers becomes muddled.

Las Provincias, Mundo Deportivo and El Chiringuito all have information on the matter today and the efforts by some to keep the midfielder at the club.

He appeared to be set to join Wolves after reports yesterday that a deal had been agreed. This came after his agent was spotted meeting with Getafe and their president earlier in the day.

Las Provincias now report on the matter, explaining that Getafe’s president, Ángel Torres, later acknowledged that Uche was flying to Wolves for a medical.

“Starting tomorrow, when Uche undergoes his medical and the deal is finalized, we’ll see how the numbers go. I’m forced to sell him; I have no other choice,” he is quoted as saying to DAZN.

That was followed by manager José Bordalás, who later insisted that the deal was not as done as it seems and that he was against it happening anyway.

The newspaper says a controversy was brewing, explaining that meetings had taken place between the president and Uche’s agent yesterday, even though he denied that to the press when asked. That led to the surreal situation of the agent joking that the president must have met someone who looks like him instead.

In the meantime, the fans have had their say, covering the stadium in graffiti in an attempt to convince Uche to stay. Messages such as “The Premier League is just money” and “Uche stay” have been daubed in an attempt to sway his thinking.

Mundo Deportivo, meanwhile, cover more comments from Torres, who insisted that they are not yet speaking to Wolves about the transfer.

“Nothing has changed, negotiations have not broken. There are five days left and it’s time to wait,” he said.

“Everyone tells what he believes. We are not negotiating the price, the footballer is negotiating and if they come to an agreement then we will try.

“We haven’t tried to convince him. The boy thinks he wants to go and make more money, like anybody else. If he stays here, he will be so happy and if you have to go then too.”

Uche, meanwhile, is stuck in the middle and El Chiringuito have video footage of him being teased by his teammates at training. In the video they are seen chasing him in his car, tapping on his window and asking him to stay at the club.

It’s all, quite simply, become a circus, with contradicting statements from all sides leading to a big mess that nobody seems very interested in taking control of.
