Report: Carlos Corberan makes a second Leeds player a ‘priority’ after Largie Ramazani

Largie Ramazani touched down in Alicante overnight ahead of completing a season-long loan move from Leeds United to Valencia, as Carlos Corberan raids his old side.

Leeds fans will remember Corberan as the man that coached the U21 side at Leeds, before Marcelo Bielsa promoted him to the first-team staff. He’s since managed Huddersfield, Olympiakos and West Brom.

Now impressing as Valencia manager, Corberan has moved to sign Ramazani. Ramazani declared himself “very happy” to Spanish reporters in the early hours of Thursday morning after touching down in Alicante.

Ramazani’s loan deal comes after intense talks between Valencia and Leeds, in which Leeds requested a loan fee, Valencia chose to remove a permanent clause and Leeds have removed a Ramazani recall clause.

Valencia make another Leeds United player a ‘priority’

Ramazani though, could soon be joined by a Leeds teammate. Foot Mercato say Valencia have now made Illan Meslier a ‘priority’ this summer. Of course, Corberan and Meslier worked together while at Leeds.

Valencia are set to wave goodbye to Stole Dimitrievski, and Meslier is being eyed as his replacement. But, Valencia and Corberan are not alone in pursuit of Meslier, who has been stripped of his no.1 Leeds shirt.

A deal for Meslier is likely to be an easy one to sort, given he has no future at Leeds and is in the final year of his contract. Given Meslier cost £5m, five years ago, any fee would now be pure profit for PSR.

Valencia are not the only side interested in signing Meslier

As per the Foot Mercato report, Valencia are not on their own. Indeed, The 49ers could take him north of the border to reunite with Joe Rothwell at Rangers. The Gers are in dire need of help under Russell Martin.
