Viktor Gyokeres has enjoyed settling into life at Arsenal, and despite a shortened pre-season, he feels ready to get to work in North London.
Our number 14 joined at the end of July, just three weeks before the start of the new season. Despite this, Viktor made his mark with a goal in the Emirates Cup before scoring two goals in his first two Premier League games.
“It was of course amazing when I could feel that,” he said on scoring at Emirates Stadium against Athletic Club. “But it was also nice to win the game and to go off with the lead and with one goal scored.
Viktor arrived half-way through our pre-season preparations, flying out to join the squad on our Asia tour before our third game. Even though this left him less time to prepare for the season, the forward feels ready for the season ahead.
“It’s been quite hectic, to be fair, the first couple of weeks, but it’s been easy to settle in here and it’s been very good so far.
“It was a bit different, short pre-season for me, but it was of course important to get some kind of pre-season at least. So it was nice to come into the group over in Asia and come back here, good to know the place here and the training ground and everything, so it’s been nice."
