'Ready to finalise': Liverpool are now close to completing two big deals before deadline - journalist

Liverpool fans are likely to be sick of hearing about the potential transfers of Marc Guehi and Alexander Isak this summer.

The duo have long been linked with an Anfield switch, and with the way things have panned out thus far, it’s still unclear whether the moves will get over the line.

Throughout the transfer window, there have been several hold-ups regarding both deals, and now we’re getting closer to deadline day; things need to get into action as soon as possible.

And that’s because, with the way that Liverpool have played in their first two Premier League games, it’s clear that plenty of improvement is still needed among Arne Slot’s first-team squad.

Liverpool are waiting for Newcastle and Crystal Palace to sign replacements before finalising their deals

It’s clear that Slot only has eyes for Isak and Guehi this summer.

Although talks of Rodrygo potentially making the move to Liverpool have lingered throughout the summer transfer window, it’s evident that the Brazilian isn’t on his mind.

Instead, as has been the case for most of the window, the Dutchman has two clear targets lined up and, unless those deals get over the line, it’s unlikely that Liverpool will sign anyone else.

Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg has shared an update on the potential deals for Guehi and Isak, with terms now being agreed between the two players and Liverpool.

Liverpool need to get the deals for Alexander Isak and Marc Guehi over the line soon

As mentioned, Liverpool have only had eyes for Isak and Guehi for the last few weeks.

The duo are the perfect players for Liverpool to target, as their main problems can be solved by the arrival of the Premier League duo.

Guehi could come in and challenge Ibrahima Konate for his starting spot, which, with the form that the Frenchman has been in over his last couple of games, is much needed.

Isak, on the other hand, would provide Slot with yet another attacking option and perhaps allow for their attackers to be given some much-needed rest.

Indeed, this would likely mean that Hugo Ekitike would have to be moved out onto the left wing but it would mean that the Reds have one of the best strikers in the top flight available to them.

At the moment, it’s unclear how things are going to pan out, but since Liverpool have now agreed terms with both players and are willing to get a deal over the line at the end of the window, an Anfield switch is seeming more and more likely.
