Nottingham Forest facing 'stiff competition' as new transfer target emerges ahead of deadline…

Roma defender Anass Salah-Eddine has emerged as a potential target for Nottingham Forest ahead of transfer deadline day.

Going into the final days of the summer window, the Reds still have a number of gaps to fill in head coach Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad. They have brought in eight new arrivals so far but further additions are on the cards before Monday's 7pm cut-off.

It promises to be a busy end to the window at the City Ground as exits as well as arrivals are expected.

Strengthening at full-back is at the top of the club’s agenda. Nuno has made it clear he believes another right-back and another left-back are required.

Several players have been linked with moves to the City Ground in order to fill both positions. Salah-Eddine is a new name, although it appears there is plenty of competition for his services.

Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf have referenced the Reds’ interest in the 23-year-old. It is claimed Forest are battling PSV Eindhoven, Porto, Lille, Celtic, Torino and Werder Bremen for his signature.

Salah-Eddine has had limited game time for Roma since he made the switch from FC Twente in February. Since then he has managed only three appearances and is yet to get any minutes this season.

A loan move is said to be ‘likely’ for the former Netherlands under-21 international. The Reds are said to be facing ‘stiff competition’ to snap him up.

Forest have already been credited with an interest in Leicester City’s Victor Kristiansen as back-up at left-back. Club Brugge’s Joaquin Seys has been identified as another potential option.

Neco Williams has pinned down the starting spot in that position under Nuno, but the Reds need cover and competition for the Welshman. The same applies to Ola Aina on the right of the defence.

Left-back Omar Richards remains on the club’s books but is expected to leave before the window closes. After Sunday’s 1-1 draw at Crystal Palace, Nuno namechecked the former Bayern Munich man as a player who could depart in order to secure regular game time.
