Austin Had Crazy Suggestion For Amorim Replacement At Manchester United

It's probably fair to say that once again Manchester United are in crisis, following their shock defeat to Grimsby Town in the EFL Cup on Wednesday night, losing 12-11 on penalties.

Despite early optimism for United fans following a good performance in their opening day defeat to Arsenal, faith in the club has quickly vanished among fans, leading to many online calling for Ruben Amorim's removal.

Manchester United have registered just one point from their opening two league games, and have already forfeited one avenue to win a trophy this season after last night's loss.

Speaking after the defeat to Grimsby, Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim looked a broken man, and sounded as if he had lost the support of the dressing room.

Since the loss, many online have called for the Portuguese manager to be sacked.

Charlie Austin Had Crazy Suggestion For Who Manchester United Should Replace Ruben Amorim With

Recommended

Former Burnley and QPR striker Charlie Austin was speaking on Sky Sports earlier today when he made a bold suggestion as to who Manchester United should replace Ruben Amorim with.

Austin felt that while Manchester United should be targeting Zinedine Zidane, this wasn't a realistic option for at the moment. Instead, he said they should go for Sean Dyche.

"You've got to look at the jobs Sean Dyche has done. He'd stabilize the club!"

I think he’s got to go. If it’s my decision, I’m going after Zinedine Zidane, trying to convince him to come to Manchester United, shouldn’t need doing, but in this moment in time, you do.

Ultimately though there’s a different lot of managers, set of managers that you’ve got to be looking at, because the situation Manchester United are in, I would take Zidane, but is he the right man for the job? As we see them probably not."

My honest opinion, i think you’ve got to look at the job that Sean Dyche did at Burnley, what he did at Everton, for me honestly, stabilise the club, at least he’s going to put structure in there. There’s no structure

Zidane is the top of the tree for me, but what Manchester United need right now is structure, because that is something they do not have. They need structure, that is a man that would come in and bring structure, and make the team a lot better than what we are all seeing ultimately at the moment. Last night, we didn’t see a team.

While appearing on The Overlap in May, Dyche was asked what his dream club to manage would be, in a clip that has since resurfaced following last night's defeat for United, and the calls for Amorim to go.

When asked by Gary Neville what his dream club to manage would be, Dyche responded:

There was always one. Manchester United was the job because of the size of the club. Not because it’s Man United, but just the sheer grand job. Particularly back then you know.

I know right now it’s suffering a but at the minute. But the whole worldwide feel of it you know what I mean. That’s a big, big, super-powered club.

When asked what he made of ongoing situation at the club, Dyche weighed in on what changes he would make if he was, hypothetically, appointed manager of the club.

He better win some games then pretty quick. I reckon if I went there and played my way, I’d win more games, and I’m not just saying that. Just 4-4-2, you know what I mean, give them basic rules and principles, there’s some good players here. You don’t have to overteach everyone I don’t think.

Manchester United will face Dyche's former side Burnley this weekend in Old Trafford, and for Amorim's survival, you feel they need to come away with three points, and dominate the game.

The game will kick off at 3pm on Saturday.
