Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville go back and forth about Wolves' chances against Everton

Wolves face Everton in the Premier League this weekend, hoping to build on the success of their Carabao Cup win.

It’s a must-win game for both teams.

Everton performed well at the weekend against Brighton, but their opening day away trip to Leeds was a poor showing.

Wolves have taken zero points from the opening two games, so the urgency for them to get a result is self-explanatory.

Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville have given their usual matchday predictions, and they struggle to reach a decision on this one.

Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville change their Wolves vs Everton prediction

As they preview the weekend’s action, Neville and Carragher give their Super 6 predictions.

For Wolves vs Everton, they both seem to agree on what will happen. Neville says: “I thought Everton were so poor at Leeds away, but obviously they did better at home.”

MORE WOLVES STORIES

To which Carragher replies: “I can’t see Everton winning that. We’ll go with 1-1.”

“It will either be Wolves win or draw. Yeah, we’ll go 1-1.”

By the time the others have finished discussing the game, the Monday Night Football hosts appear to have a change of heart about Vitor Pereira’s side, with both concluding: “Wolves 2-1, we’ve changed!”

It seems they too are more optimistic about Wolves’ chances after Tuesday night’s performance.

Wolves vs Everton is important for another reason

Of course, every game is the most important game, and especially on a tally of zero points in the league, the result matters tremendously.

But there’s another reason both teams will be putting extra focus on this fixture.

Following last night’s Carabao Cup action, the draw for the third round took place, with Wolves pitted against— you guessed it —Everton.

Both sides look quite far from European contention, so this competition can give fans something to get excited about this season.

The tactics on display at the weekend will be duly noted and used to create an advantage in that all-important cup tie.
