Good news for Garnacho as Chelsea‘agree’ £36m attacker sale

Chelsea have reportedly reached an agreement with Serie A giants AC Milan to sell attacker Christopher Nkunku.

The 27-year-old has been looking to leave Stamford Bridge throughout this summer having fallen down the pecking order under head coach Enzo Maresca.

Nkunku joined Chelsea from RB Leipzig for around £52m two summers ago and has since scored 18 goals in 62 appearances across all competitions, including 15 strikes last season.

The France international scored five times in Chelsea’s triumphant Conference League campaign and also featured six times as the Blues won the FIFA Club World Cup earlier this summer, but he is not considered a nailed-on starter for Maresca and the decision has been made for him to seek pastures new.

Bayern Munich were strongly linked with Nkunku earlier this summer, but they were **unable to agree a fee**and have since turned their attention to signing his Chelsea teammate Nicolas Jackson on loan.

Premier League clubs including Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa have also been credited with an interest in Nkunku, but the attacker now looks set to complete a move to Italy.

According to multiple reports, including one from journalist Fabrizio Romano, an agreement is in place for Milan to sign Nkunku for an initial fee in excess of €35m (£30m), which could rise to €42m (£36m) with add-ons.

Nkunku has agreed to sign a five-year contract with the Rossoneri and both clubs are currently preparing the necessary documents to finalise his transfer to San Siro.

A separate report from***BBC Sport*** claims that Nkunku is expected to accept a pay cut in order to join the Italian outfit and has been given permission to travel for a medical.

Chelsea to use Nkunku funds to sign Garnacho from Man Utd

Chelsea’s decision to sell Nkunku will help the club raise funds for a late move to sign Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho.

Recent reports have claimed that the Blues have made progress in talks with the Red Devils over a deal for the 21-year-old winger, who has been pushing to leave Old Trafford throughout this summer.

Garnacho has allegedly received offers from other European clubs and teams in the Saudi Pro League this summer, but he is determined to remain in the Premier League and has prioritised a move to Chelsea.

According to the***Evening Standard***, Man United are now prepared to lower their £50m asking price for Garnacho to allow him to secure a move to Stamford Bridge before the deadline.

Garnacho, who recorded 11 goals and 10 assists in 58 games for Man United last season, is not the only fresh face who could be arriving at Chelsea, as the Blues are currently battling with Spurs for the signature of Xavi Simons, while they also hold an interest in Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez.
