Newcastle United look set to miss out on a move for Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson, with Bayern Munich reportedly close to agreeing a loan move for the striker.
The final few days of the summer window will see Eddie Howe's side try and add to their attacking options following the exit of Callum Wilson and the uncertainty over the future of star striker Alexander Isak.
The Sweden international is pushing for a move to Liverpool before the deadline, with Newcastle rejecting a £110 million bid from the Reds earlier in the window. Isak is currently training away from the main Newcastle group and has not featured in any of the club's opening Premier League matches.
Jackson is surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge and looks set to leave the Blues before the end of the window.
It, however, looks like Newcastle will have to move quickly if they wish to bring him to St James’ Park. It’s been reported by Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg that Jackson is ‘set’ for a loan move to Bayern Munich.
It’s added that the club are in advanced negotiations over the deal, with Jackson agreeing personal terms with the German club and them paying all of the player’s wages.
While Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Bayern are pushing to sign the player, there is not yet an agreement with Chelsea. He, however, adds that the Blues want to first wait until the end of the saga around Isak to pick the best option for Jackson.
That hints that Newcastle could still have a chance of completing the transfer if they wish to do so. They may have to move quickly, though, with Bayern making another approach to Chelsea in the next 24 hours.
